  1. My husband insists on leaving out the bread, peanut butter, chips, his medicine, etc., out of the kitchen counter. This causes mess! I’ve bought bread boxes, organizers, baskets— all to no avail. I’m sick of it.
    He will not compromise on this. To open a cabinet door is not in his vocabulary.
    Anyone else?
    Ideas?

  2. What we can not change we have to come to peace with. If there is one corner of the kitchen that is not as visible, it could be designated as “his space”. It sounds like you have tried everything and made a great effort. I know it doesn’t help but, many widows would gladly love to have their husbands back, even with the annoying little habits.   3. my husband is blind and all the more he should put stuff away so he could find it- but does he? no- the bread bag, etc stays open on the kitchen counter. today I tried a phrase similar to the sign in our dentist office – “only floss the teeth you want to keep”. I told him ” only put away the bread you wish to eat tomorrow. he said- oops I forgot to put it away and he got up and stored it. they say 30 days to a new habit- I’m just hoping I won’t get worn out reminding him and keep my sense of humor. I also put stuff on his place mat at the table sonetimes- central location – so he can easily find and I don’t have to be responsible for misplacing…
